Get the Facts
Over one million dogs, cats, primates, sheep, hamsters, and guinea pigs are used in labs each year. Out of those, over eighty-six thousand are dogs and cats. But it’s impossible to know exactly how many because U.S law does not require scientists to report how many birds, reptiles, or rodents they test on.
Animal testing is often ineffective in predicting how products will work on people. Some estimates say up to 92% of tests passed on animals but failed when tried on humans. |

50% of animals used in cosmetic testing die within three weeks of the experiment. Also, thousands of shelter animals are abused and euthanized (put to death) in U.S. labs every year.
Small animals like hamsters, mice, and rats are usually kept in plastic boxes about the size of a shoe box. Several animals live in each box. Larger animals like dogs, cats, and primates usually live in wire cages. Most animals stay in their cages all the time except when they are being used in experiments. |

Those are just sixteen of the thousands of company's that are still torturing animals everyday, but what makes it even worse is that these products are so popular and sell thousands or even millions of dollars worth of products each day.
